Jean is a dedicated healthcare professional with a strong academic background and extensive experience in clinical practice and education. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN/FNP) degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Duke University. Currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina, School of Nursing in Chapel Hill, Jean also fulfills the role of Medical Director of the UNC School of Nursing Mobile Health Clinic.

In 2021, she was honored with the NLN Isabel Hampton Robb Award for Outstanding Leadership in Clinical Practice, further highlighting her exemplary contributions to the field of nursing. In 2024 she received the Dr. Julie Byerley Award for Faculty Excellence in Interprofessional Education and Practice.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Jean volunteered with the NC Farmworkers Health Program, contributing to essential worker screening and vaccination efforts. Beyond her local community, Jean serves as the president of Compassion Med International, an organization dedicated to supporting health outreaches worldwide.

Jean’s expertise is recognized at a national level. As a Public Health Consultant on a $1.2 million HRSA Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention Grant, she advises and mentors students for the “Closing the Gaps: Strengthening Nursing Education through Partnerships to Improve Care for Underserved and Rural Communities” project from September 2023 to 2026.
