Eric Montross was a former basketball standout and Academic All-American at the University of North Carolina (UNC), member of the 1993 UNC National Championship Team, and a nine-year NBA veteran. A 1994 graduate of UNC in Speech Communications, he was the Senior Director of Principal Gifts at the Educational Foundation Inc., The Rams Club and was the color analyst for the Tar Heel Radio Sports Network during the men’s UNC basketball season.
Eric is well-known for his philanthropic work benefiting children. After volunteering at the NC Children’s Hospital as a student-athlete he became an ardent supporter of the North Carolina Children’s Hospital. He and his wife Laura, founded the Eric Montross Father’s Day Basketball Camp in 1995, to benefit the NC Children’s Hospital. Eric served on numerous local and regional boards, and volunteered his time providing support, advice, and encouragement for children and nonprofits in the area.
